This is a post I wrote a few years ago that describes the course segment by segment: http://www.emergingrunner.com/2010/09/deconstructing-cow-harbor-course.html

In terms of experience, if you search for cow harbor race report on this site, it will bring up my Cow Harbor race day summaries. I'm like a little kid on Christmas morning waiting to run this thing, as it was a goal to do it when I started running last September to lose weight and lower my blood pressure. The weight is gone. The blood pressure is lower. Now its time to attack that damn course and have some fun doing so! Still, it does get tight on Scudder for the first mile and James St. usually has some congestion due to the hill. Overall, the course is open and very managable.

The Emerging Runnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09326865074297618379noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7924908815112206508.post-23940055019034393922013-08-30T11:23:26.645-04:002013-08-30T11:23:26.645-04:00You inspired me to do a little unorganized speed w...You inspired me to do a little unorganized speed work this morning. I've run that course a couple of times now (and even went to a training run Wednesday night), and it seems that those roads could get pretty crowded with 5,000 runners on them. You'll gain some additional speed when running with the crowd and I'm confident that you'll do far better than the 12 min/mile goal. Good luck! Instead I clocked in at 11:00 pace on the nose. I still have 2 weeks until race day so I'm really hoping I can make that happen with a timing chip on my shoe.
